Gralhix OSINT Exercise #002

So today we will do a geolocation challenge from Gralhix! Here is the briefing information

So lets analyze this photo a bit.

So we have some obvious information here, We can see a named called “Flinders Street” and we can see railroad tracks. So we can assume this is a train station. So lets see if we can find this information

Awesome so we can see this is a train station in Malborne Australia so lets see if we can find this on the map

So here on the map we can see the train station and we can see the different platforms the train station has which is helpful

So now that we have identified the train station lets try to see if we can replicate the photo as best we could

So I decided to use google earth to get a 3D image of the location to see if I can find that building!

Here we are, We found that building! So lets go ahead and see if we can find the answer to the other question. What is the tallest building in the photo!

So first I went onto google maps until I found the tower and saw the name was Arts Centre Melbourne

then I googled the height of the building and got…

Next lets move to the next building which is HWT Tower which is next to it

So we did another google search and saw some quick info from a website that relayed the info

Next we know there was the IBM building next to it! So lets see if we can grab some quick info!

Again we will rinse and repeat our process on the map and find the info which the official name is IBM Australia

Here we are we found another quick google search and found the height

So far we identified those buildings. But we are missing the big building in the back. So lets go back to Google Earth and see if we can find some info

OK we found it and we see its unique shape which is a quick indicator, But we need to find the right name of the building. So I will throw my little hangman into the street and see if we can find it!

Awesome! We found the name, so we know its focus apartments, so lets go find the height

Here we are! We were able to find the Height which is 166M

So after analyzing all the buildings we see that Focus Apartments is the tallest building out of all of them!

So here are the answers to the challenge

1. Where was the photo taken? Flinders Street Train Station
2. What is the tallest building in the photo? Focus Apartments
